Step 4 - Prepare to Run DUPR Rating Sessions
Once you've passed your assessments and rated your first non-rated players and connected them to DUPR, it's time to prepare to run DUPR Rating Sessions confidently. Focus on planning, practicing, and setting up your coaching business to integrate DUPR effectively. The more prepared you are, the smoother your sessions will run and the greater the impact on your players and coaching practice.
Here's what to focus on:
- Practice Different Session Formats: Try running sessions with different numbers of players, match durations, and activities to find what works best for you and your community. Some coaches run full doubles matches, while others include drills or mixed formats.
- Understand Court Logistics: Get familiar with your club's booking or court reservation systems. If you operate on public courts, explore platforms like Pickleheads or other local court finders to ensure smooth session scheduling.
- Plan Your Business & Generate Revenue: Determine your pricing structure, session schedule, and strategies for generating revenue. Consider how many sessions you can run, potential participant numbers, and ways to maximize value for your players while growing your coaching business.
- Master Your Coach-Assigned DUPR Skills: Review all eight key game areas, the primary fault model, and scoring methods to ensure you evaluate players consistently and accurately. If you need additional guidance, reach out to support@duprcoach.com to connect with a Master DUPR Coach for support.
- Promote Your Sessions: Share your offerings with your local pickleball community. Use email, social media, or your club’s communication channels to attract participants.
- Create Marketing Materials: Design flyers, graphics, or posts that highlight your DUPR Coach status and the value of participating in a DUPR Rating Session. You can also use official DUPR Coach logos in your materials.
- Enjoy the Experience: Coaching is about more than just ratings. It's about building connections and growing the game. Have fun, celebrate your players’ progress, and take pride in being a part of your pickleball community!
